Children are important members of our worshiping community. We promise at baptism “to guide and nurture our children by word and deed, with love and prayer, encouraging our children to know and follow Christ.” Remembering this promise and knowing that children learn best by “doing,” children are always welcome to participate fully and remain in worship with their families. However, we do understand that at times children may need a different worship environment, one that is created especially for them. We offer Children’s Church at the 11:00 a.m. worship service (and at the 10:00 a.m. worship service during the summer) for children ages 4 years old through 2nd Grade. After the “Passing of the Peace,” children will follow the Children’s Church leader from the sanctuary to the Children’s Ministry Suite. During Children’s Church, the children will continue to follow the same order of worship as in the sanctuary but in a more “child friendly” way.
*When a child begins his or her 2nd Grade Year, we encourage them to remain in worship during Communion Sundays and on the Sundays when the St. Andrew’s Choir (2nd – 5th Graders) sings. We hope that by taking this year to transition slowly, that our children will feel more comfortable and prepared to stay in the sanctuary for worship. We will celebrate the beginning of this important transition by officially welcoming our 2nd graders to The Lord’s Table on World Communion Sunday, the 1st Sunday of October, at the 11:00 a.m. worship service.
