Children’s Ways to Serve & Mini Missions
“Here’s the church, here’s the steeple, open the doors, and see all the people.” As we begin another year in Children’s Ministry our children will be reminded or will learn for the first time this sweet childhood rhyme. These words are a very important reminder that the church is not just a building, its “all the people” who gather together to worship, serve others, and share God’s love. It definitely takes “all the people” to be the church. And our children are a very important part of this church family and they, too, can help serve and share God’s love. There are many opportunities throughout the year for our children to take part in serving the church and sharing God’s love with others.
Communion Helpers – Beginning in October, 2nd Graders are invited to serve as Communion Helpers by walking in the Communion Elements during the 11am worship service. Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.
Acolytes and Call to Worship Liturgists – Beginning in September, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders are invited to serve as Acolytes and Call to Worship Liturgists during the 11:00 a.m. worship service throughout the school year. Volunteer here.
Children’s Choirs – Children, Pre-Kindergarten through 1st Grade are invited to join the Cherub Choir led by Mrs. Charlotte Chromiak and children, 2nd – 5thGrades are invited to join the St. Andrew’s Choir led by Dr. John Coble. The children’s choirs rehearse on Sunday afternoons at 4:30pm in the Music Suite located on the 2nd floor of the church.
Mini Missions – Throughout the Sunday School year children will have many opportunities to lead and take part in a variety of mission projects including to help collect food year-round on Food Sundays (first Sunday of each month) to donate to our local Food Bank. More information will be sent to parents as we begin our year of Mini Mission work and service to others.
