Mrs. Kim Ness
In May 2014, Kim became the Director of Youth Ministries at FPC, a position she had always felt called to pursue. As a former PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer in Belfast, Northern Ireland, working with troubled youth and the site coordinator for the YAV site in Nashville, she has a passion for youth and mission. She has been a small group leader at Montreat Youth Conferences for over 15 years, and hopes to spread her love for this most magical place with the youth of First Presbyterian Church.
Kim is a graduate of the University of Richmond in Virginia and Loyola University in Chicago with a Masters in Social Work. Prior to joining the staff of FPC, she worked as the volunteer coordinator for Compassionate Care Hospice, did drop-out prevention at Clarke Central High School, and taught preschool at FPC Weekday School. Kim also has six years of experience coordinating youth leadership programs in Nashville, TN. She has chaired the city’s MLK Day of Service, served on the steering committee for Youth Leadership Athens, and is the Troop leader for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop.
Kim is married to Erik, who teaches Higher Education at UGA. They have three children, Ben, Kate, and Tenny, and a catahoula puppy named Desta which means happiness in Amharic, the language of Ethiopia!!
