Children’s Church for children 4 Years Old – Second Grade, 11:00 a.m. Worship Service, Children’s Chapel
Children are important members of our worshiping community. We promise at baptism “to guide and nurture our children by word and deed, with love and prayer, encouraging our children to know and follow Christ.” Remembering this promise and knowing that children learn best by “doing,” children are always welcome to participate fully and remain in worship with their families. However, we do understand that at times children may need a different worship environment, one that is created especially for them.
We offer Children’s Church at the 11:00 a.m. worship service for children ages four years old through 2nd Grade. After the “Passing of The Peace,” children will follow Natalie Bishop, Charlotte Chromiak, and Children’s Church volunteers from the sanctuary to the Children’s Chapel (across from the Church library, 2nd Floor of the Tinsley Stern Building). During Children’s Church the children will continue to worship by following their very own Children’s Church Bulletin. With the help of the little church mice the children will experience the many ways we worship God: we hear God’s word, we sing to God, we pray to God, and we give to God. In addition, the children will learn about the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism through special Godly Play stories.
When a child begins his or her 2nd Grade Year, they will begin to remain in worship during Communion Sundays and on the Sundays when the St. Andrew’s Choir (2nd-5th Graders) sings. We will celebrate the beginning of this important transition by officially welcoming our 2nd graders to The Lord’s Table on World Communion Sunday, the 1st Sunday of October, at the 11:00 a.m. worship service.
