Soul Shop Registration

First Presbyterian Church of Athens is pleased to be co-sponsoring Soul Shop, a two-day suicide awareness training event on September 16 & 17 at Milledge Avenue Baptist Church. Sunday is a two-hour session, Soul Shop for the Public, and Monday is an all-day session, Soul Shop for Faith Leaders. Both are designed to change the culture around suicide to decrease the risk of suicide.

Suicide awareness training for the entire community to address:

– how we think and talk about suicide
– suicide as a community health problem
– steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of suicide

Suicide awareness training for lay and professional leaders in faith communities to:

– respond to persons impacted by suicidal desperation, including family & friends
– develop soul-safe communities to decrease the risk of suicide
– change congregational culture around suicide
