Congratulations to Lucy Bell Johnson, welcome to Jennifer Adams, and thank you to Laura McHugh!
Dear Friends in Christ,
As you know, God has richly blessed First Presbyterian Church with an incredibly talented team of staff members, and I count it as a great joy to serve alongside them each day.
Some recent retirements have created an opportunity to reconfigure our staffing configuration, and I’m pleased to announce a promotion for a current staff member and the addition of a new member to our team.
Lucy Bell Johnson has served the church faithfully for over a decade in various capacities, most recently as Administrative Assistant for Congregational Care and Membership. In addition to those responsibilities, Lucy will now also handle all facility scheduling and maintenance needs. Per the action of the Administration Commission of the session, Lucy’s title has been changed to Office Administrator and her compensation has been increased accordingly. Please join me in congratulating Lucy on her new role as we give thanks for all the ways she continues to serve the church!
I’m also pleased to announce that we have hired Jennifer Adams as Church Accountant. Jennifer comes to us with much experience, including years of accounting work at UGA, Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, and recently, as the Director of Finance with the Madison County Board of Education. She is a graduate of Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, where her daughter is a current student. Jennifer’s first day in the office will be Monday, June 6.
I would be remiss if I didn’t also give thanks for Laura McHugh, who has done an outstanding job of keeping church finances in order in the interim period between Roger Burbage’s retirement and Jennifer’s arrival. For many years, Laura served as our Accounting Assistant, and she possesses a treasure trove of institutional knowledge. She will be an invaluable resource as Jennifer begins her service with us.
Thank you for the ways in which you continue to support First Presbyterian Church of Athens. Your generosity enables us to call, support, and equip faithful servants like these, and together, we are making a difference for the kingdom of God in Athens and beyond.
Peace be with you and yours,
Dr. Ryan Baer
Senior Pastor
